The Course
Join me on an engaging exploration of the Latin language through the captivating narratives found in Lawall and Perry's Fabulae Romanae: Stories of Famous Romans. Designed for students with an intermediate understanding of Latin grammar and vocabulary, this course moves beyond foundational concepts to develop deeper reading comprehension and an appreciation for authentic Roman prose. Through the lives and legends of figures such as Romulus, the Horatii, Cincinnatus, and Julius Caesar, students will not only enhance their Latin proficiency but also gain invaluable insights into Roman history, values, and mythology. We will delve into a variety of grammatical structures, complex sentence patterns, and idiomatic expressions, building the necessary skills to navigate increasingly sophisticated Latin texts.
How it works
This course sharpens your students' Latin reading and comprehension skills by reading captivating stories from Roman history. Every week your student will dive into a new section of Latin, adapted from Livy's History of Rome, to learn about Roman kings, senators, tyrants, and emperors. The course focuses heavily on translation and reading, much of which will be done together in class. Outside of class there will be weekly grammar videos provided to assist your students' comprehension of the text.

Hi, I'm your instructor, Kyle Brown
With a deep and personal love for the Latin language and Roman history, I've been blessed with the opportunity to teach these classes in a variety of settings. I've taught Latin to all types of students, from middle schoolers to graduate students and everything in between. As a classical homeschooling father, I also know how important it is to provide your children with the best quality education you can. That's why I'm offering these courses. It's my goal to help bridge the gap between parents who want to offer their children the best education they can, but perhaps don't have a strong Latin background themselves. Parents, I'm here to tell you: it is possible. And I'm happy to help provide the solution. With you, the homeschooling parent, in mind I've designed these courses to be the perfect balance of flexible and hands-on. God bless.
